A little nugget of love…

Happy Valentine’s Day friends! I’ve been down and out with sickness all week so I’ve still been off the blog train, but I wanted to show you the most adorable little girl ever! Lindsey Cheek from Fifi Cheek and part of the fabulous design duo of Poplin & Queen asked me to design a simple valentine’s day card for her precious Tilley-Gray!  The pictures by Millie Holloman were priceless and I love what we came up with. You can see them on Lindsey’s blog here.

Been on an adventure!

Sorry for the lack of posting lately. I’ve been on a bit of an adventure down to New Orleans to visit friends and family. I think it did me good to get out of the normal day to day. I’ve finally come back and although my body is exhausted, my mind feels refreshed and rebooted. I’ll update you with pics and tales from my travels soon, but until then, enjoy a little Instragram art I created and have a fabulous weekend.

Be True Designs at Pink Bridal Show

Although Be True Designs decided not to join my fab friends at the Pink Bridal Show this year, I did get a chance to represent by supplying some paper goodness to some of my favorite wedding stylists and planners! My uber talented friend Shanna at Ruffles and Rouge Events had an inspiration booth at the entrance of the show for all the new brides, showcasing her talents and representing a rustic and glam reception idea. We provided menus and hand wrote the wooden sign for the dessert station. I’m so in love with this and think that Melissa Timm’s florals totally rocked.

I also got to provide an invitation suite, escort cards and menus to Allison Gaddis of Live, Laugh, Love Weddings. Her ceremony and reception inspirations are so dramatic with the navy, black and white, yet still have a touch of whimsy with the addition of hot pink.

It’s truly an honor to get to work with East Tennessee’s best wedding professionals and events!

Mint, Gold and Deco Inspired Shoot on Ruffled!

I’m so excited to finally share this Gatsby inspired inspiration shoot with you! It’s one of my favorite concepts that we’ve done and with the movie remake of the Great Gatsby, think it will be a big trend in weddings this year too!  I love being able to do something different on paper suites. We used a deco die cut for the menus and escort cards and gold foil for the invitations, liners and table numbers! See the rest of the beautiful shoot by Be True Designs,  Ruffles and Rouge Events, Julie Roberts Photorgaphy, The Sweetery and Flourish Floral Design on the fabulous Ruffled here.

Twas the Night Before Christmas…

While we’re busy finalizing and shipping orders, cleaning and packing up our house and getting read to make the trek home, I can’t get out of my mind Christmas Eve! It’s the time we go to my parents house, put on the 24 hour marathon of a Christmas Story and open presents! It’s a tradition since I was a young’n (my dad worked on Christmas day every year). Don’t worry, we had an ‘agreement’ with Santa that my house would be his first stop.  So while we were driving around looking at lights, Santa (aka my mom’s friend) would come to the house, eat the cookies and deliver presents. It was great, but it was hard to give up the Santa thing, while kids were telling me ” he’s not real, it’s your parents’, I was telling them “But you don’t understand, they were with me the whole time!”. Well played parents, well played.

This year, while opening gifts I envision comfy gold polka dot pjs, hot cocoa and holiday tunes in the mix!

I’m dreaming of a…Christmas Dinner

While I’ve never hosted my own Christmas dinner (we make an annual pilgrimage back to our childhood homes for the celebration), I still dream of gold chargers, fancy cloth napkins and cascading holiday bouquets! Here’s my idea for this year. I like the idea of mixing traditional and modern. I’m in love with the tartan plaid dessert plates paired with a bright red ikat napkin! I also added touches of gold with plates, gilded serving ware and a special printable place card and menu that I made just for you! You can download it here!

Inspired by the Nutcracker

Last weekend we went to see the Rockettes in Nashville. It was a good show, but my absolute favorite part was the small sequence of Nutcracker ballet performances. Granted they were done with ballerinas in stuffed animal costumes, but I’ll take any of it! Looking back, my whole childhood and teenage years were surrounded by the Nutcracker. The ballet company I was with did performances throughout the holidays, during the middle of the week and weekends. I remember getting out of school to go dance and then coming back later that night to dance again. I did so many parts, from when I was a little girl and barley able to move my feet around to when I was a teen on pointe. Sadly, my feet gave out and my devotion to dance dwindled before I turned 16 or 17, but this time of year always makes me think back to that magical time in my life.

Here’s a little nutcracker/ballet inspiration for you!

No. 1 – Anna Pavlova, one of the most recognized pioneers of ballet.

No. 2 –Essie’s Ballet Slippers Nail Polish.

No. 3 – Ballet T-shirt from The Australian Ballet Company.

No. 4 – Silver Nutcracker from Target.

No. 5 – D&G layered Tulle skirt from Net-A-Porter.

No. 6 – Parisian Ballet Flats from Bhldn.
